Watchers

So last August (I think) I posted the infamous Descent 4 picture. At the time various people warned it would be yanked since it suggested human beings have genitals. Since no one was being penetrated via the love basket I figured it was TOS safe. Also since moderators here have arrogantly recategorized stuff I consider finished as scraps I said meh, they could do what ever they want since they will. So today, seven months later they get on it and yank it.

Two things stand out;

* Murky explanation for moderating: this makes it hard for anyone with  good intentions to follow the rules.  In fact lack of clear explanation as what the the TOS violation was it suggests that the people doing the moderation are in it just for the LUZ and it encourages people to deliberate post TOS breaking pictures to share in the fun.

* Way, way to late: TOS  aren't written to make moderators feel special and  important. TOS are to protect websites from getting into legal trouble.   It would be almost impossible for Deviant Art to make a case that they are responsibly moderating themselves when it takes them seven months to review something.

So way to go for moderation Deviant Art team.

And, wow, back again, first time since January. I'm shocked that visitors haven't been leaving you comments. That's rude.

So at first I was puzzled why the most recent images had been removed (Descent 4 included), and then I read your journal page and...voila. Ugh!

I agree with everything you've said about dA, its TOS, the lack of timeliness of action, the function of administrators (I wouldn't give them credit for being "moderators" since they don't really behave that way), etc. I suspect that from a legal standpoint dA exists day-to-day in considerable jeopardy, and their legal team (whatever it is) is probably highly stressed, underpaid, and overworked. Actually, that might be why their administrative actions (like deleting images) feel so capricious and illogical: my guess is that their legal team is unable to provide the site owners with enough feedback on recent actions to build a "practice" set of guidelines to go along with their "policy," and so there's no effective triaging or distribution of tasks.

Which leaves all of us in the lurch. And that might be another reason (more of an excuse, actually) for people to try to game the TOS and engage in a sort of "nah nah I dare you" contest with the dA admins.

And of course, in the meantime, the number of dA accounts that are posting unauthorized images seems to be proliferating (that 7-month backlog you mentioned). As if the risk of seeing anyone's genitals is much more legally risky(and morally corrupt) for dA's existence than members ripping off someone's copyrights.

Oh well. I've been yelling about this for some time (see my back journal posts, if you've got the energy). The hypocrisy is incredible. There's not that much you as an individual can do, really, except to leave dA. Vote with the feet, etc. My guess is that'd do more harm than good to those of us in the community who like your stuff.

Hang in there.

Joseph,

This is my first visit to your gallery, and I found myself enjoying the walk through your hallways. I'm not much of a fan of vore, so those images didn't interest me as much. But the Amazon scenes and the slave scenes warranted my undivided attention.

I admire your work at depicting women of various builds and stances. Your posing and lighting composition do quite well. Solid chops. I'm also impressed with your anatomical control and detail. Shows a lot of practice and hard work.

Since I'm not a CGer, I could only sympathize with your comments about DAZ. I've heard similar from other artists, too. To me your reliance on Vicky2 to get the variety you do is genuinely amazing.

Now that I know you're here, I'll visit again soon. Thanks for making these images available to us for viewing!
